Vernazza from the Cliffs
18 by 24 Oil on Birch

Anyone who has hiked the Cinque Terre Azure trail from Corniglia to Monterosso al Mare knows this view. In fact, this view stops you in your tracks as it is so unbelievably beautiful.

This is Vernazza, one of the five towns making up an area known as the Cinque Terre, on the Ligurian Sea, of the Italian Riviera.

I started this painting in August 2020 and set it aside numerous times as it was a slow project. All together I have approximately 300 hours invested in this painting. The windows and brickwork took what it seemed like, ages to do. For a break from it, I completed four other paintings between the beginning and end of this one.

It was finally finished on Feb 23, 2021. I have painted all the towns now except Monterosso... I might have to start one in the near future.
