Before I can start today's quiz, it has been pointed out to me that I need to be sensitive to everyone's emotions. I apologize for neglecting my little friend, who spent two weeks in a box in Rome waiting for me to come back for her. While she patiently waited, Britt and I toured Sicily and the west coast of the mainland. We finally got to Rome and dragged her across the city and through the subway to Little Blue.  She then joined us on the remainder of the trip.

    ~Okay, I should be alright now...Thanks...~

Britt, my little friend (who was the focus of the first three questions), and I hopped into Little Blue (the car) and headed north along an ancient Roman road (Strada Regionale 2). It was a beautiful drive. Out of the corner of our eyes we saw an ancient ruin. So, of course, we stopped the car to explore.

I made #4 really easy so I could use the name of the town in the next question.  If you didn't pick Sutri above, go change your answer now.

The ancient city of Sutri is located on a high tufa spur between the Sabatini mountains to the south and the Cimini mountains to the north. It was due to its strategic position as a spearhead into the Etruria hinterland and the Faliscan countryside that it acquired and maintained an very important historical role from the 5th to 4th centuries BCE. right through to the middle ages.

There was no entrance fee for us to get into this site. There was a guest book to sign and a man sitting there to answer any questions.  It was quite lovely. We spent about an hour here wandering through all parts of the monument.  It was very cool.

The chronological setting of this monument is somewhat difficult as there is the total absence of any historical, epigraphic or architectural clue.  However, the extreme simplicity and sobriety of the structure allow it to be dated between:

After the monument we headed into the main piazza of the town and something weird happened.
